Friends in unexpected places

Posted by: leighd on: November 14, 2007

I’ve been writing devotionals, Sunday school curriculum and other odds and ends for a pretty long time. I started fiddling with Christian fiction later, and began to get more serious about it about a year ago.A wonderful instructor at a writers’ conference pointed me toward the American Christian Fiction Writers, so I checked into their [...]

Faith with … a different spirit (Numbers 14:24)

“But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.” (Numbers 14:24)Caleb played some key roles in stepping up for what God wanted when most of the other Israelites didn’t. Cold weather is finally coming — or for some of you it’s already here. For me, that means it’s time to start heating up the soup at lunch on those days I can’t seem to get warm (and I’m so glad I don’t live in a *really* cold place like some of you do — [...]

“E” in Friend = “Encouraging”

As we head toward the weekend, I’m in the process of wrapping up something very important: the manuscript for Every Girl’s a Diva, which will be my second devotional book for girls. It’s a 4-week devotional that looks at why every girl (young or old!) is a diva in God’s eyes:

Because you’re God’s delight
Because you’re [...]

About Leigh

leighs-pix-red.jpg I'm a freelance writer/editor, Christian writer, and speaker for women's and girls' groups. I also teach upper elementary and middle school Sunday school classes and like finding ways to help girls realize how special they are in God's eyes. One of my favorite Scriptures for girls is Psalm 45:11 -- "The king is enthralled by your beauty. Honor him, for he is your Lord." That's something we all need to learn: that we're beautiful inside and out, just because God made us!
