Road trip!!!

Posted by: leighd on: March 28, 2008

Well, today’s the day – some friends and I are heading south to Jacksonville, FL for Beth Moore’s Living Proof Live conference. Woo-hoo! We literally bought our tickets and made hotel reservations months ago and have been looking forward to this weekend ever since. Some of us have been to her conferences before, some of [...]

A God Get-away

Posted by: leighd on: March 26, 2008

You probably know you need to spend time with God every day … you might even really want to do it. But some days get crazy and there just doesn’t seem to be enough time. Well, stop feeling guilty and do something about it!
There’s a website called findinggod.org that has some pretty neat things, including [...]

What’s so good about Friday?

Posted by: leighd on: March 21, 2008

Today is Good Friday, the day we remember Christ’s trial, crucifixion and death. Unfortunately, it’s also a day that many people tend to skip right over on their way from Palm Sunday to Easter.
It’s easy to get excited about Palm Sunday, with its pomp and circumstance, songs full of “hosanna” and stories of how excited [...]

Serving the servant

Today was Maundy Thursday, the name some people call the Thursday before Easter. But what in the world does it mean? After all, “Maundy” isn’t a word most of us go around using every day.It all began on the last night that Jesus spent with His disciples. It was the time of year to celebrate [...]

It’s Friday, so let’s have a little fun here today … and what better way to have fun than to get something for free?! A few months ago I posted a review for In Between by Jenny B. Jones — a great book about a teenage girl who gets shuffled to a new foster care [...]

Some friends and I are planning a getaway in a couple of weeks – we’re taking a road trip to Jacksonville, FL to hear Beth Moore’s weekend conference. Woo-hoo, we can hardly wait! We’ve done so many of her Bible studies, have read many of her devotional books and journals (one of which I’m working [...]

Friends in the tough times

When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples … (Matthew 11:3a)
John the Baptist was in prison because he preached about Jesus and because he stepped on some toes – namely, the toes of the king because he said King Herod’s marriage was wrong (see Mark 6:17-18). But even though John [...]

Luke 4:22: Being amazed at the regular people

Posted by: leighd on: March 4, 2008

They were all speaking well of Him and were amazed by the gracious words that came from His mouth, yet they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” (Luke 4:22)
Have you ever noticed how we expect big things from important, well-known people (and aren’t the least bit surprised by it), but don’t expect “regular” people to have [...]

About Leigh

leighs-pix-red.jpg I'm a freelance writer/editor, Christian writer, and speaker for women's and girls' groups. I also teach upper elementary and middle school Sunday school classes and like finding ways to help girls realize how special they are in God's eyes. One of my favorite Scriptures for girls is Psalm 45:11 -- "The king is enthralled by your beauty. Honor him, for he is your Lord." That's something we all need to learn: that we're beautiful inside and out, just because God made us!
