Catching on fire

Posted by: leighd on: April 29, 2009

Do you ever read the signatures that people include with their emails? I do. If you include a quote or Scripture verse, I’ll read it. If you include a Scripture reference but don’t write out the verse, I’ll probably look it up. If you list a blog or website, I just might pop by to see [...]

Easter and Psalm 139

Posted by: leighd on: April 6, 2009

Easter has hopped around again, with bunnies and candy and fluffy little chicks. It’s also spring break for lots of schools, but don’t let the week of fun overshadow what makes this week special: it’s Holy Week, the week between Palm Sunday and Easter.
One of my favorite chapters in all the Bible is Psalm 139, that wonderful [...]

If you like to read and are looking for a way to learn about books you’ll enjoy but won’t have to hide from your mom, check out www.novelteen.wordpress.com. The folks there post reviews and video trailers for clean fiction appropriate for teens. If you like the things you read about there, they also have a [...]

Starting the New Year Right

Posted by: leighd on: January 2, 2009

I got an email earlier this week that I thought was a good way to look at things as we start a new year. I hope 2009 is a great year for you full of Faith, Friends, and Fun!
IT DEPENDS ON WHOSE HANDS IT IS IN

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.

Divas in Disguise is on its way!
My publisher got her copies on Wednesday and put 2 boxes in the mail to me yesterday. She says it looks great and I can hardly wait to see for myself. I should have them dropped on my porch early next week –yay!
This book has been a long [...]

Up close and personal

Posted by: leighd on: June 13, 2008

I’m working my way through Jesus: 90 Days with the One and Only by Beth Moore. It takes bits of Jesus’ life each day with a Scripture reading, questions to get you thinking, a devotional, and a prayer response. Some days the reading might be 2 or 3 verses; some days it might be a [...]

Ack!

Posted by: leighd on: April 16, 2008

I just realized that I’ve left you girls hanging since I was headed on the road trip for the Beth Moore conference. Oops! I posted some stuff about it on my other blog, but need to let you know about parts of the weekend, too. That’ll come later … including some pix of the wonderful [...]

Find faith … with Psalm 34:8

Posted by: leighd on: November 6, 2007

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. (Psalm 34:8) Do you have a bucket (or more!) of Halloween candy in your kitchen or pantry or tucked away in a closet? We have an orange plastic bucket sitting on top of the fridge that’s nearly overflowing [...]

Prayers for a project

Posted by: leighd on: November 2, 2007

As we head toward the weekend, I’m in the process of wrapping up something very important: the manuscript for Every Girl’s a Diva, which will be my second devotional book for girls. It’s a 4-week devotional that looks at why every girl (young or old!) is a diva in God’s eyes:

Because you’re God’s delight
Because you’re [...]

Where’s your costume?

Posted by: leighd on: October 31, 2007

It’s finally here – the night kids in neighborhoods everywhere have been counting down the days to – Halloween.
My own kids deliberated about costumes for weeks before we actually went to the store. They both have masks this year, which is something they always like. There’s something about covering their faces that makes the night [...]

About Leigh

leighs-pix-red.jpg I'm a freelance writer/editor, Christian writer, and speaker for women's and girls' groups. I also teach upper elementary and middle school Sunday school classes and like finding ways to help girls realize how special they are in God's eyes. One of my favorite Scriptures for girls is Psalm 45:11 -- "The king is enthralled by your beauty. Honor him, for he is your Lord." That's something we all need to learn: that we're beautiful inside and out, just because God made us!
