I wrote and illustrated my first book when I was about 8 or 9 years old — it was a thrilling tale about a bear who lived in a refrigerator box
. I gave it to my mom and she actually still has it all these years later.
My first “real” book, Work-from-home Moms’ Devotions to Go, was published in June 2006 by Extreme Diva Media. (Don’t you love the name of my publisher? That’s a story in itself that I’ll have to share on another page.) I’ve had tons of fun writing press releases, having book signings and basically learning how to promote a book in the past two years. Now I’m in the midst of promoting my two upcoming books, which will be devotional/Bible study books for girls. Here’s a bit of the scoop:
Divas in Disguise: Finding the True Diva in You will be available in Autumn 2008. It takes you through the lives of 30 women from the Bible and looks at whether they were Desperate Divas who thought they had it all together but really missed the point, and Divas in Disguise who people often thought were nobodies but who really were on the right track. Each day has a key Bible verse, devotional, prayer, and some kind of journaling question or activity to get you thinking. It also tells you where to find the complete story about that woman in the Bible if you want to learn more. Then each week ends with 4 recap questions that you can work through on your own or use to jumpstart discussion with a group of friends.
You can pre-order copies through Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com — just click the links here to go right to the book info. If you’d like to read a bit more or read a sample devotional, hop over to www.leighdelozier.com and click on the page for Leigh’s Books.
My second devotional book for girls — Every Girl’s a Diva: Knowing God Loves You Just as You Are – will release in Fall 2008. This one takes 4 weeks to look at the letters from the word “diva” and explore why you’re so special to God. D = Because you’re His delight; I = Because you’re innocent once you confess sins to Him and He gives you a new start; V = Because you’re valuable since there’s no one else in the world exactly like you; and A = Because He accepts you no matter who you are, where you live, what kind of car you drive … no matter what. It’s structured like Divas in Disguise with a key Bible verse, devotional, prayer, and journaling activity each day, plus weekly wrap-up questions. You can pre-order it through BarnesandNoble.com or learn more and read a sample devotional at www.leighdelozier.com and Leigh’s Books.
