Godly Girl Place

Leigh’s Speaking

I love to speak to groups and meet new people! It’s humbling to think that God sometimes uses the words from my mouth or the messages on my heart to reach other people. The thing is, He doesn’t need any of us to help do His work, yet He pays us the privilege of inviting us along for the ride. What an awesome God He is!

Many of my speaking topics can be tailored to fit groups of girls or women, so I’ve included a pretty long list here. But don’t think I only go to churches — I also speak to school groups and writers’ groups.

I’ve listed the general topics for women and girls here, but my website has more complete descriptions and info on how to contact me about speaking.

  • Every Girl’s a Diva - Every girl is a Diva in God’s sight, whether she realizes it or not. This program for young women (from upper elementary through high school) uses the acronym D-I-V-A to share some important viewpoints God has about us as Christians. It’s also appropriate for mother-daughter events. No matter who you are, where you live, or how fashionably you dress, God thinks you’re a Diva! The 30-minute message can be presented alone or in conjunction with Divas in Disguise for a longer program or retreat.
  • Divas in Disguise - Sometimes the things the world counts as important aren’t important at all. The things that matter most – loving and following God, respecting yourself, caring for family and friends – can be least understood by people in the spotlight and most seen in the people behind the scenes. This program looks at women from Scripture who thought they were Divas but weren’t, and some unassuming women who really were Divas in Disguise! It can be presented as a 30-45 minute keynote, divided into several sessions for Bible study times or retreats, or combined with Every Girl’s a Diva as a retreat.
  • Living as God’s Princess: Understanding Your Special Place in God’s Eyes – As Christians, we’re continually reminded that we’re children of God. The beauty is that we’re not just children of any ordinary king – we’re princesses of the King of all Kings! This program on how perspective can change our views of ourselves and others is perfect for older elementary, junior or senior high girls, or for mother-daughter events. It can be presented as a 30-45 minute keynote or expanded into several sessions appropriate for Bible studies or retreats.
  • Lessons from Butterflies: Finding God in Everyday Life - The similarities between a caterpillar’s transformation to a butterfly and our transformation to life as a Christian are easy to see. But those colorful little creatures can teach us some valuable lessons about ourselves and our lives in Christ. This keynote presentation aims to help groups see butterflies as a beautiful reminder of how our walk with Christ should be (30-45 minutes).
  • Everyday Gifts for God - The similarities between a caterpillar’s transformation to a butterfly and our transformation to life as a Christian are easy to see. But those colorful little creatures can teach us some valuable lessons about ourselves and our lives in Christ. This keynote presentation aims to help groups see butterflies as a beautiful reminder of how our walk with Christ should be (30-45 minutes).
  • Putting Your Heart on Paper: Learning to Write Devotionals – Devotional writing can be a fulfilling way to capture some of the lessons you learn from God – and can be a great tool for sharing those lessons with others. Learn the building blocks of devotional writing, practice putting the pieces together and investigate some devotional markets if you’re interested in pursuing publication. This interactive workshop lasts approximately 1 hour and is perfect for men and women, youth and adults.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer (Psalm 19:14).

About Leigh

leighs-pix-red.jpg I'm a freelance writer/editor, Christian writer, and speaker for women's and girls' groups. I also teach upper elementary and middle school Sunday school classes and like finding ways to help girls realize how special they are in God's eyes. One of my favorite Scriptures for girls is Psalm 45:11 -- "The king is enthralled by your beauty. Honor him, for he is your Lord." That's something we all need to learn: that we're beautiful inside and out, just because God made us!
